Trainer Profile: Jeff Glossner

Jeff Glossner is an amateur MMA fighter about to go professional for his next bout. He’s been training hard in boxing, and keeps his wrestling skills sharp in between teaching boxing and kickboxing to his Orange County students. Around HBUTC, he is known as the trap king. If you haven’t been to his Tuesday-Thursday cardio kickboxing class at 6:30pm, get there to hear the latest from Future, Kendrick Lamar and Migos. He keeps the boxing combos interesting, and gets heart rates up with jump squats or other calisthenics between rounds on the bag.

We connected with Jeff to get some insight into this very personable and fun trainer, and here’s what he had to say.

Tell us a bit about your fighting career.

I fight at the 135 and 145 weight classes. My last fight was February 18th. It was an amateur fight, but I look forward to going pro in my next bout. I’m working hard to prepare for that. I’ll make sure everyone knows when the fight gets set up - come out and support!

What do you do at HBUTC?

I’m a kickboxing instructor, and I’m generally in charge of keeping things as lit as possible around here. [gives his signature subdued giggle]

What’s your favorite style of training / martial arts?

I’m pretty well-rounded and I like blending styles. I started martial arts at 3 years old with karate. Around 5, I started jiu jitsu, and at 9 I started wrestling. I also played hockey from 3 to 14 years old, and I still like that raw, high energy athleticism that I learned through that. My favorite styles right now though are wrestling and boxing.

What were some of the influences on you that brought you into this career?

Both my parents were once professional kickboxers, so I really grew up around all of this. I moved to California from Maryland in February 2016 looking to find better training. I think I’ve found it now, and I am working towards turning pro right now as we speak.

In-n-Out, or Fat Burger?

I do not eat any fast food, so I don’t know.

Rock, or Rap?

Rap [we should have guessed]

Favorite song to play during your kickboxing classes right now?

Humble by Kendrick Lamar

Easiest way to piss you off?

The easiest way to piss me off is to bring sweets around me when I’m trying to cut weight for a fight!
